2011 Radio Tribute to music teacher Mark Cornell

Tribute to Music Teacher Mr. Mark Cornell

Mr. Cornell was one of the first people outside of my family to appreciate my interest in Japanese language and culture.
In the past, Mr. Cornell told me that he was considering having the orchestra play Gustav Holst’s “The Planets.”
In tribute of this, we’ll play Ayaka Hirahara’s rendition of “Jupiter.”  This will be followed by an important conversation.  I’m very grateful for the time that I was afforded with Mr. Cornell.

Coming later this year, an exclusive interview with Akira Miyagawa (more information below).  In anticipation of this, we’ll listen to a great arrangement by Mr. Miyagawa: Beethoven’s Symphony No.5 meets Mambo No. 5!

The sounds of Nature and pop collide with great music by Akeboshi.

Plus all new music by Kazumi Toyoshima, great music by The Kinki Kids and more!
