The gameplay in Mokoko X is very unique and innovative. As such, it defies pigeonholing. If one had to be describe it succinctly, one could say it is where Breakout meets a painting game with an action component. As you progress through the game, you unlock different stages, and different characters with unique abilities and approaches to help clear the stages. In fact, as you continue to progress through, and beat the Story Mode, you can unlock a new gameplay mode: Arcade Mode.

Your main character's weapon appears as a projectile that can be activated by pushing a button. Once activated, as your character moves around the screen, it gives the effect of a line being drawn by the projectile. If the player can draw a perfect square, anything within that square is destroyed. Also, this is the primary way that the characters attack the enemies. This can also be used to unlock power-ups and abilities, most significantly, the ability to acquire terrain. In order to advance to the next level, the player needs to acquire a certain amount of terrain (typically, around 70% of the terrain).

Further, the game offers multiple difficulty options. This helps to ensure that the game is a fair challenge, never becoming burdensome.

Mokoko X's offers innovative, fun, and addicting gameplay. This, together with an anime-themed style and presentation make this a game definitely worth checking out!
